Longbottom passed. Well, I can't properly say I'm sad for those who lost him - seeing as he was quite the clumsy bloke and all I knew of him was he liked plants. Not really something one can judge someone by, so I won't.

So. How is everyone else doing?

Terrible, I still don't have cigarettes.

Don't you always have them?

I used to. It's harder to get them if I don't have money.

You mean muggle money? Convert it, then.

You misunderstand me. I don't have money. Dad used it on the whores

Why the hell not? Surely you can't have lost it.

That doesn't sound like he was buying clothes, Millie.

My dad isn't much of a clothes person, let's just say.

So, it's women-related? Stop me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like...he's--loose, maybe?

Whatever word you want to use for it. He tended to sleep around before... he died

Shame, so what's your position dealing with other necessities?

At the moment, no position. I guess we'll just have to wait and see... I'm jobless, I'm broke, I ran out of cigarettes and my dad is dead. I'm living at Pansy's house and my home is probably being taken over by house elves or something repulsive. Sorry, inkstain.

I suppose I'll have to get a job or something. Or just wait until Hogwarts.

Ah. Well, I'd be happy to lend you a hand; turns out my mum was quite fond of cigarettes.

I've been better. I'm trying to write a speech for my father's funeral.

I'm counting the minutes until some self-righteous Gryffindor comes to bother you about your "heartless" journal entry, Nott.

Sounds like great fun.

Would they rather me shout about how I thought he was a waste of life? Because I surely know it can be arranged.

Will you be able to attend? It would be nice to have a few people my own age there, people who weren't father's colleagues or associates.

Go ahead if you wish. I think the Gryffindors secretly enjoy taking the bait of our little provocations. They love to argue as much as we do, perhaps more so.

I'd be glad to - at least I'd have something to do.

Well, it's a pointless waste if they're closed minded about everything.

Terrific. The service starts at one.

Well, count no more, Malfoy. I half-expected this from you-- not from Nott.

And as for you, Nott, Neville was much more than a clumsy bloke who loved plants. Perhaps if you'd have tried, you could have gotten to know him a little better. haven't you been listening to the Sorting Hat? If not, I'd suggest you do. It's been known to give warnings in time of dire need. Which it did just this past year.

I actually did write something like this when I learned of it. But so far there's been no reaction. Perhaps people are learning. Or perhaps I'm becoming predictable.

Yes, I saw that. It wasn't as bad as it could have been, though. At least you didn't call him anything like you would have in the past. Wonder how long that will last.

The chap's been murdered. I don't see how an insult would contribute anything. Besides, I prefer to save my taunts for your friend Potter.

Honestly, you Gryffindors. I thought I'd be truthful and say I didn't know him than assume I did.

It's a stupid, worthless argument, Malfoy; especially with another houemate of Longbottom's.
